About

A Single Tree Podcast Exists To:

  • Formulate and articulate a contemplative approach to personal growth
  • Bridge the gap between clinical and creative, visible and spiritual, concrete and abstract
  • Be a resource for people to enter contemplative space, chew on ideas and learn skills to transform their relationship with their brain and emotions, and become aware of unconscious programming
  • Change the world by helping people take responsibility for changing themselves
  • Put forth a vision and methods for acting peacefully in the world so as not to perpetuate violence

A Single Tree Podcast Is:

Joel Ybarra

Joel is a helper who finds meaning coming alongside others and helping them see things in new ways, especially their inherent value as human beings.  There is a larger context in which our stories exist which helps give meaning. Joel is also always mindful and a student of the relational and systemic nature of all things.

Joel was raised in Christian spirituality and he finds great value in seeing the common spirituality we all share. His goal is that humans would learn to live in relationship with one another in constructive ways, and take responsibility for the context we are creating together. One of the ways we do this is by talking to one another. If we can have a thoughtful dialogue, we can change the world.

Joel practices as a therapist at Real Life Counseling. His blog is here.

Brandon Jacobs

Brandon enjoys working with all walks of life and their inherent complexity. He has always been fascinated by the natural world. Through this, he has seen how nature provides timeless teachings and enjoys integrating these into his life and his work with others. Part of this process is helping others find and create meaningful context in their lives through self exploration. Brandon is a clinical therapist at Real Life Counseling and lives in Wichita, Kansas.
